Picture
The first day of school is on Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Welcome ceremony

We will begin the ceremony at 9:00AM. Please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to that time. Wearing school uniform is required for your child.

Also, to create a wonderful atmosphere and to continue old Russian school traditions, it would be nice if your child brings some flowers to his/her teachers.

Classes
After the ceremony all children head out to their classrooms to meet with their new and old schoolmates and teachers.
The students will have 2 classes on that day: one class with a Russian teacher, another one with an English teacher.

Orientation for new RAIS families

While children are in their in their classrooms, an orientation will take place in the assembly room. You will hear about our school’s daily and yearly routines, policies and more.
All questions will be answered then.

Pick up on September 1st
All classes are dismissed at 12:00 noon. Please pick up your child by that time.

Surprise Party for Children

It has become a nice tradition of our school to invite children’s performers on the first and last day of each school year.

On September 1st at 11:00 am our students and guests are all invited to a “Happy Birds” performing parrots show!  The performance is fast paced, upbeat with over 25 amazing tricks! Parrots will ride a bike and a scooter, play basketball and show lots of other fun activities.

Check out the performers’ website here: http://www.happybirds.com/home.html

OUR STUDENTS ARE THE WINNERS OF THE ARTS OLYMPIAD! 03/15/2011

Picture

As you know, in the beginning of December our school had received an invitation to participate in the 4th Arts Olympiad, the world’s largest and most prestigious arts and sport program for children ages 8 to 12.
The Olympiad provided an opportunity for our students to represent the state of California at the World’s Children’s Festival to be held in Washington, DC in the National Mall on June 17-19, 2011.

Only 2 winners were chosen from each state….

and both are from OUR SCHOOL!

Congratulations to VALERIE S. and ANDREW P.!!!
They were judged as THE ONLY two winners for the State of California Arts Olympiad!!!
These two kids, their families and the art teacher Tatyana Yurkhova  are officially invited to represent California at the World Children’s Festival in Washington, DC this June, where an incredible event will be organized in their honor!
After having won the High Silver Medal at the Dance competition in Santa Clara in February, I believe it has become a good tradition for our students to WIN EVERY COMPETITION they participate in!

Congratulations!
Sincerely,
Eleonora Nayberg
Principal

Doodle 4 Google 'What I'd like to do someday...' 03/01/2011

Picture
Our School participated in 'Doodle for Google' contest this year.
Contest Rules:"Welcome to Doodle 4 Google, a competition where we invite K-12 students to use their artistic talents to think big and redesign Google’s homepage logo for millions to see. At Google, we believe that dreaming about future possibilities leads to tomorrow’s leaders and inventors, so this year we invited U.S. kids to exercise their creative imaginations around the theme, "What I’d like to do someday…"

Whether students wanted to find a cure for cancer or take a trip to the moon, it all started with art supplies and some 8.5" x 11" paper. One lucky student artist will take home a $15,000 college scholarship and $25,000 technology grant for their school, among many other prizes.

Submissions were due on March 16, 2011. State and Regional Finalists will be announced on May 4, 2011. The winning doodle will be featured on our Google.com homepage on May 20, 2011."
