Russian-American International School is unique in many ways, but particularly in the diversity of cultural backgrounds, talents, life experiences, and personalities of the students. Admission to Russian-American International School is selective and competitive. Our learning environment is bilingual, multicultural and international. Students from Russian and American public and private schools may be admitted to the Russian-American International School.
Our admission policies are non-discriminatory. We welcome students without regard to gender, race, religion, or national origin. The application process is critical to ensuring that Russian-American International School continues to enroll students who will be well-served by the academic program and who will be happy and productive in the school environment.
In addition to the general academic qualifications, there are certain grade-level language requirements for entry into the Russian-American International School. The Russian Language is not a requirement for entry at kindergarten level [children of 5-6 years old] and the 1st grade [6-7 year old]. All non-Russian speaking students will be proficient in Russian by the end of the 1st grade. Children whose mother tongue is Russian are admitted to the school at any grade level.
Step 1: VISIT OUR OPEN HOUSE
Begin the process by visiting our school during one of OPEN HOUSESto see our students and faculty in action. Our tours are led by Janis Shiller, our Principal and Eleonora Nayberg, the Head of School with some help of our 5th and 6th grade students who are the “connoisseurs” about life at our school. At the end of the tour, Ms. Shiller and Ms. Nayberg will be available to answer your questions.
Step 2: SCHEDULE ADMISSION TEST
Following a preliminary visit to our school, an appointment for a student evaluation, or Admission Test, needs to be scheduled.
We hold our Admission Tests after January 6th, 2014. The Admission Test day is a weekday (Monday through Friday) at 8:30am. The test lasts for 30 minutes; your child is placed one-on-one with a teacher. You can request the date for this test beginning November 1st, 2013 by downloading our Admission Test Request Formbelow. On that form please indicate your three preferred dates for such a test and mail it back to our school along with a $40.00 Admission Test fee. Once your request is received, an e-mail with a date conformation will be sent to you.
